Throughout this whole year I have improved greatly as a photographer. From knowing the basic to now knowing skilled tasks whether its in photoshop or out taking pictures I know I have improved immensely.
Coming into this class I had never taking pictures with an actual camera just pictures occasionally on my phone but to be able to hold and shoot with an amazing camera was a whole new experience. Some of my earlier pictures you can see the aperture and lighting is slightly off. Getting criticism is the best thing ever on those because then I know how not to make that mistake again and how to fix it later in the future. But taking pictures wasn't the hardest part of it all. Editing and photoshopping the photos were definitely my biggest struggle. I had a little experience from photoshop from taking a video production class with Mr.Bush last year but we only used photoshop once or twice throughout the year. The car retouch assignment was probably the turning point of me understanding how to use photoshop really well by then. I had to have some help in the beginning of the assignment but towards the end of it I was able to go ahead and finish the project on my own. But coming from not knowing how to take barely take pictures to knowing how to shoot and edit them is something I will keep with me in the future.

For this demo we had to try to take a picture implementing a motion blur to the background. I learned it is really critical to make sure there is a right amount of light because the blur effect doesn't look as good when there is too much or too little light. I was really hard to get all of his body in focus so because of all of the motion and having to move the camera with him it was hard to keep all of him in focus.

For this weeks and the last photo assignment I chose to do still life. I found things around the house and I put a backdrop that was my blanket and I set them on them and held a lamp up to light the subject. I chose this one as my best one because the shadow on it was a good thing about it and then the reflection on the VT I really liked. It really brings out the symbol and I enjoy this photo a lot. For this assignment we had to go out and take two portraits. One using the window light bounce technique an the other using the studio set up. We had to take one from each and put a black backdrop and the add a white frame. We had to do a portrait so we had to turn the camera sideways to make it taller so we could capture more of the person in it.

For this weeks photo I did people and I asked my sister Karsten to come out with me and take photos. We took all of these around my house because we have some really cool trees and bushes and since its fall all of the are changing colors. I chose this one because it really shows her but also involves something else to the picture with the bush in the background. This bush has a very bright green color to it and me adding a bit more saturation to it adds to it really well. I also made the blacks more black and the whites brighter. I added a bit of contrast and then put the exposure up a tiny bit. The main difficulty with this photoshoot was that it was really cold outside when we were out and I had trouble holding the camera steady because my hands were shaking so I had to use my knee as a bit of a support for this picture. For this assignment we had to go out and take multiple pictures of ourselves and mash them up together to make it look like there are multiple of us in one picture. For mine I did me going up down and being around the stair case. This was kind of difficult because I had to get to the spot by the time and I had to time the shot so I could be where I wanted to be. I was also difficult to exactly get the camera on a perfect horizontal line with the stairs. Being in a pose that was good for me was also kinda hard to get because trying to get into a good position for a picture while going down the stairs was more difficult than it should have been. But I was able to get in a position that looked good and I think it turned out pretty good.
For this assignment w had to go out and shoot a picture of the school and edit it to make it look spooky and scary. For mine I did the long hallway down the center of the school. I put a portal on one of the flags with the school activities on them and then I put stone slabs going down to the floor. I put some sort of lizard monster going down the stairs entering the school and a skull on the top step by the portal. Creating the steps was kind of difficult because I wasn't being smart and I didn't try to copy the slabs instead I would place it again and I would image mask it again and go through the whole process until the final 3 steps where I remembered how to press buttons.
For this weeks photoshoot I did an event. The event I took pictures of is the wheelchair basketball that was help at the high school on Friday. I chose this photo because it shows the expression on the face of the person guarding the guy with the ball on Navy. It shows the guy on Army looking up the court for someone to pass it to and the last guy towards the bottom left of the picture is looking to intercept the pass. It was difficult to take these because i had to stabilize the camera on my own with such a high zoom and I didn't have a tripod to help me stabilize. To edit this I increased the temperature In it and I increased exposure and I also increased saturation a little bit.
3200 ISO 125 mm f / 4.5 1/200 seconds I chose this picture as my best one because it shows a lot in it but it dose not show too much to the point where it is very distracting. I took this picture in the first few weeks of the class and Ive had it saved for a while so I decided to use it today for black and white.
ISO 400 / 5 mm / f/3.5 / 1/60 sec For this assignment we had to go out ad take pictures of something. We had to take five pictures to make it into a panoramic. I took pictures of the schools gym and it was hard to take them all because its very dark inside of the gym so I tried to use flash but it made it worse. So I had to find a spot where the most light was let in and I found that here on the track up top.

AuthorHi Im Fletcher I own 2 dogs and they're pretty neat. I also have two brothers and a sister. One of my brothers Cooper he took this same class and recommended me to do it and I did and its pretty fun. I always had been interested in being a photographer but not really thought about it that much but now that its been a few weeks its definitely something I would consider doing as a hobby in my future.
